Why Is Camera Sync So Important? Usually the autopilot triggers the camera and records the coordinate it currently has. When the drone is flying at 20m/s and GPS is working at 5Hz, your autopilot will only have position readings every 4m. While adequate for navigation, such measurements are not suitable for precise georeferencing. Also, there is always a delay between the trigger and the moment the photo is taken. The access module uses this directly synchronized with the shutter. The camera solves it by connecting it to the hot shoe port. The time of each photo is recorded with a resolution of less than one microsecond.
